Trends, trends, trends! Trends for 2011 by Sherwin-Williams
I attended a fabulous color forecast event last week hosted by Sherwin -Williams paints. They presented four different and exciting color palettes. As usual with color and design trends, there are many choices rather than just a few "hot colors". Here is the rundown with links to that in-depth descriptions on the Sherwin-Williams websites, including the actual paint colors.
All images from the Sherwin-Williams website.

Bold Invention: Ten colors in cool greens and blues contrasted with a hot red and a yellow and a couple of basic neutrals. Influences are Rio (Host of the 2011 summer Olympics), technology, graffiti, and the vibe of a big city. To me, this palette is young, fresh, and sporty, with a masculine slant.

Gentle Medley: Eight soft, warm, and complex colors that conjure up a vintage feeling. Influences are nostalgia, vintage fashion of the 1940's and 50's, and the economy. This palette is soft, friendly, and just a bit funky, like a house with an eclectic mix of vintage and modern.

Purely Refined: Ten very elegant, soft, and cool-toned colors with a definite neutral bent. Influences are the subtlety and look of fine antiques and heirlooms, organic textiles, natural materials, and classic luxury. To me, this palette reminds me of a Cape Cod beach house or a Victorian house in San Francisco- cool, classic, and safe.

Restless Nomad: Vibrant, rich, and elegant with a touch of spice and earth. Influences are foreign cultures, especially the design and colors of the Middle East, India, Morocco, and yummy food colors. To me, this is a personal and eclectic mix of colors, and reflects conviviality, travel, and never apologizes.

My favorite palettes? I like Gentle Medley and Restless Nomad the best overall and would even combine colors from each palette. Now I'm thinking of repainting my bedroom! Maybe Hopsack or Purple Passage!
Cheers,
Rebecca
