Political correctness when it comes to children has just gone too far! Teachers in Australia have been encouraged to not use a red pen to mark student work as (it) "could be harming their psyche as the color is too aggressive, according to education strategies drafted by an Australian state government." Sounds like a crazy, leftist liberal policy? It certainly is, according to deputy opposition leader Mark McArdle . Read the full article HERE.
The fact is, the Australian Government is full of you-know-what. Not only is this very bad color psychology, it's all BS since there is not enough red ink on their paper to cause a significant amount of anxiety! Even if the student was given a solid red piece of paper, it wouldn't cause anxiety and depression. Color doesn't work that way.
Sorry teachers, you need to concentrate on actual teaching and making sure the kids know what to improve on.....so keep on using the red pens. An incorrect test answer is still incorrect. ~Reb
