I just couldn't help post a link to this story about an Agave americana plant blooming in a Wales glasshouse. He was surprised at the height of the flower stalk. Apparently the owner doesn't get out much.....there are usually several in bloom at any one time in Tucson, Arizona, not to mention the ones growing all over California, Mexico, Nevada, New Mexico, etc. There are even a few in my own neighborhood in bloom right now!
