Hola readers
I'm working on a color project that has me traipsing about town taking photos of houses. Here's one that was just built and is right on a busy street corner. Probably very expensive considering the neighborhood and size of the house. It's a typical new home for the Catalina foothills because of it's Spanish contemporary styling.
What made me want to include it in my project is the COLOR- lemon yellow with pale lemon chiffon trim. It truly "takes your breath away" so to speak. I now call this the "lemon drop house". The home next door is a nice olive brown, so this place looks like a search light next to it.
While I believe that your home is your castle, sometimes painting it any color you want can be hazardous to you and your neighbor's health. Not to mention the folks that have to look at this home on their daily commute.
What makes it weird looking is that it looks totally out of context. It's not painted a typical desert color or even one of those fun Mexican colors you see on old adobes. It's painted a color you'd see on a New England cottage complete with picket fence.
So if I had my way, I'd consult with the owners about painting it a different color. I hope they aren't planning to sell this place. It might be on the market for a long time...
Cheers,
reb
