COLOR trends for 2007 from the European Home Fashion, Gift, & Tabletop Shows **Information courtesy of Color Marketing Group and my own research

Overview or Mass Market and High-end trends- overall evolution of color from last season rather than anything really standing out and looking fresh. Color overall is a bit more subdued.

Mass market

Colors still bright

  • Orange still strong but declining a bit- softer, earthier
  • Blue now secondary: accent color or in combination
  • Yellow is a strong accent
  • Yellow + white looked fresh for outdoor home products
  • Black and White patterns very strong, especially + bright accent color in small amounts
  • Black and white + chrome
  • Silver
  • Purple showing up as a medium-toned plum shade
  • Soft Pink is an accent color, especially with strong green
  • Gorgeous browns becoming anchor neutrals

HOT:

  • Red + white
  • Bright yellow-greens
  • Back & White + strong green
  • Greens, blues, brights for spring and summer

High-end home fashion

Color less saturated and more refined.

  • Gold top metal but some copper and warm silver showing up
  • Platinum as opposed to mass market’s silver
  • Orange less important and when it was it was either yellowish or a coral orange
  • Classic navy blue showing up
  • Yellows are non-metallic ochre golds
  • Neutrals include warm white, taupe, tan, bone and are the background colors
  • Woods are exotic or dark but with a variety of finishes from rough to polished
  • HOT:
  • Deep olive green and blue green
  • Deep, mid-tone blues are shown with olive and creamy white
  • Reds deeper, like claret and wine red + warm whites or glossy black
  • Black very important: black crystal, china, etc. Usually seen with gold on tableware
  • Purples similar to mass market: greyed, deep-plum shades are new
  • Browns include caramel brown paired with ochre and greyed-browns like driftwood
