Howdy
Busy, why yes! I’m getting ready for Tucson’s Open Studio Tours, which means my art studio will be open to the public November 11th and 12th. It’ s fun and a great way for the art-loving citizens of Tucson to see art, buy art, and talk to artists about their craft and techniques. Interested? Details and maps here.
What else is new? I’m volunteering on AllExperts.com in the “paint and wallpaper” (Interior decorating section) and answer questions that people post. It’s fun and apparently helpful since I’ve gotten very high ratings and was nominated as volunteer of the month. Yeeha!
And the “holidays” are coming. I’m not a traditional holiday person, so you will not spot me at the mall buying loads of crap. I like to give to charities instead of giving gifts. I do have visitors over Thanksgiving, so that’s cool. There is one extremely cool holiday tradition in Tucson that looks like a great time: the All Souls Day Procession, and that is this Sunday, November 5th. I’ll be participating in that with Odaiko Sonora, We’ll have a large drum on a cart. It’s kind of a performance art parade with Dia de los Muertos and All Saint’s Day overtones. Lots of costumes, music, dancers, and people remembering loved ones. In fact, an artist friend of mine is doing a very special community art piece that involves Big Bird the big head puppet in the All Souls parade and ends with an incredible art installation piece. More info on that here. (And I created her invitation and new web page announcing this project!)
And I’m a bit behind on my newsletter but it will be going up soon. I’m not sure what it will be on though so if you have any ideas, let me know. Maybe holiday décor like one of my favorite Euphorbias? If it goes out soon enough!
Cheers,
reb
