Hey there
I’m hooked on paint right now! I had mentioned in the last blog that I’ve been using Ellen Kennon’s Full-Spectrum paints and I’ve just tried Gustavian Grey (Velvet Sheen Interior Latex) on two walls in my living room. I originally bought a gallon to do the bathroom in but decided at the last minute on the living room. Now I’m going to order more so I can paint the bath!
Gustavian Grey is really a perfect interior color for the southwest (for readers that just started reading the blogs, I moved to Tucson, AZ two months ago.) and it is truly amazing paint. It’s a perfect foil for Saltillo tile floors and natural pine ceilings as well as my terracotta brick fireplace. All of those warm orangey shades needed cooling down and Gustavian Grey was the ticket! It’s such an amazing color: it changes from icy blue to pale aqua to cool grey to white throughout the day, with multiple colors on walls as well. The color is still neutral and pale, so it doesn’t distract from the artwork. And it just glows! I highly recommend it for some needed contrast to all of those earthy colors often found in Arizona homes.
I'm also planning on using it where previous owners installed a wall of custom built-in drawers. They’re made from a lovely, dark wood (pecan, walnut?) and I’m going to paint Gustavian Grey behind them, covering up the boring tan color. Gustavian Grey looks fabulous with dark, rich woods and would be gorgeous in a home with a lot of wood trim or beautiful antique wood furniture.
Until next blog,
~Reb
